Reston, VA (March 22, 2019) – The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) has announced the results of its 2019 election for President-Elect and Council of Directors positions. Millennium’s own Dr. Orval “Rusty” Powell has been elected Director-Region V. The newly elected AIAA officials will take office in May. Congratulations, Rusty!
AIAA is one the world’s most renowned associations and is focused on shaping the future of the aerospace industry. It delivers extensive technical expertise and policy guidance to decision makers at the federal and state levels, serving as a reliable resource on a full spectrum of aerospace issues.

Dr. Powell had to meet rigorous qualifications standards, including support to AIAA and technical acumen to the aerospace industry. He is an Associate Fellow, and holds an earned Ph.D. in Engineering (Mechanical Specialty) from the Colorado School of Mines, an M.S. in Aeronautical Engineering (Distinguished Graduate) from the Air Force Institute of Technology, and a B.S. Mechanical Engineering (Summa Cum Laude) from Colorado State University. As the Director-Region V, he will be responsible for five sections across the central United States, covering Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, and Kansas.
