This is a tough one for us, and for you. We know how hard it is to wait in silence not knowing if you have already been eliminated from a position. We don't like it either. Unfortunately, for many jobs we get hundreds of resumes and hiring managers simply do not have enough time to contact everyone that applies.
Yes and No. Many of our jobs do not require a security clearance but many do! The job descriptions will state if a security clearance is required. For internal transfers to other positions, it is often helpful to have a security clearance because a very large number of our positions require a clearance.

Millennium has defined each role within our organization and developed resources for employees to understand the level of skill and experience needed to achieve any position in the organization. Using these resources as a guide, employees are able to match career aspirations with internal guidance and develop career plans, which include opportunities to acquire additional training and education with support of company tools and resources.
In an environment of employee empowerment, we help our employees chart their own course with our Career Planning Program. Employees are given the opportunity, at least annually, to sit with their manager and talk about their career goals and aspirations. Training is available that walks our employees through the career planning process and shows them how to take maximum advantage of the tools and resources available. They can review current positions and career paths available within Millennium, discover career opportunities, discuss the potential for advancement, and map the most achievable path towards their desired goals.
Employees are able to establish career path goals and identify associated action items to achieve them, including training and furthering their education. The Career Planning Program allows employees the chance to communicate with management about where they would like to go within Millennium, and how they might achieve their objectives. Employees are able to voice their interests in areas they would like to consider for personal and professional growth.

Our Hiring Process
Millennium is dedicated to programs that are vital to our national interests - programs that keep us safe, advance our technological capabilities, and serve the needs of the people. If you are driven to solve complex problems, to help the nation address its most pressing needs, and to offer your critical skills to the mission, then we are excited to have you join the Millennium team.
Here are the typical steps in our hiring process.
To apply for a Millennium position, please complete our online application to include uploading a resume, cover letter and any other supplemental documents to the Current Job Openings page.
Each job opening has a designated Hiring Manager who reviews your resume and application details.
In many cases, an initial phone interview makes sense for both the Hiring Manager and the candidates. Phone interviews are efficient for addressing the top-level questions and issues, and they can save time and money for you. The phone interviews address basic questions such as your technical/professional knowledge, availability for interviews, interest in relocation, salary expectations, etc.
For most positions, an in-person interview is important for both our Hiring Manger and you as the candidate. We believe interviews are a two-way process. In other words, we are interviewing you, but you are interviewing us as well. We want candidates that believe in Millennium's culture and mission.
Our Hiring Manager or Human Resources staff will call or email to arrange a time for you to visit our offices and to provide detailed directions and other information.
A typical interview lasts between 1 to 3 hours, depending on the position. During your interview, you will talk to a representative from our Human Resources department who will discuss benefits, policies, culture, and answer your questions. You will also speak to the Hiring Manager and typically 1 to 3 other staff members to discuss your qualifications, and to give you an opportunity to learn more about the specific project and position. This is a two-way dialogue, and we hope and expect that you will ask us as many questions as we ask you.
Hopefully, everything goes wonderfully during the interview, and we mutually agree that you should join the Millennium team. At this point, we perform a background investigation on employment history, references, educational qualifications, criminal record, etc. Our Human Resource staff or the Hiring Manager may reach out to talk your references.
Once we have completed the background and reference checks, our Human Resources staff will send you a formal offer letter with your starting salary and expected start date that was mutually determined during the interview process. In most cases, we request your decision within a week (or sooner, because at this point, we are really excited to get you onboard as soon as possible).
Once we receive your signed offer letter, we begin the process of bringing you onboard prior to your first day. We use a web-based onboarding software tool to begin gathering information from you that will expedite the transition. The onboarding workflow process allows us to begin important steps prior to Day 1, such as setting up network accounts, ordering computers, gathering security clearance information, and several other routine steps. Our Human Resources staff will provide you access to our onboarding portal where you can complete the workflow steps.
Once the big start day arrives, you begin your day with a new employee orientation session, where you will talk with several key stakeholders including Human Resources, Information Technology, your supervisor, and other project staff. You will complete additional steps in the SilkRoad workflow process, such as online training, completion of additional forms, etc.
In many cases, your job location will be located on government installations, and after you complete the Millennium orientation, you will proceed to your work location and perform additional orientation and training.
Once all the orientation steps are completed, you will begin to bestow your greatness on meeting our customer requirements!
