Millennium Awarded SMC/RSL SLMS Contract
Arlington, VA (March 9, 2017) - Millennium Engineering and Integration Company was awarded a Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) Technical Support Follow-on (STS-2) task order for the United States Air Force SMC Space Based Infrared Systems (SBIRS) Logistics Management Support (SLMS) effort supporting the Remote Sensing Systems Directorate SBIRS Sustainment & Logistics Division (SMC/RSL). Millennium will deliver sustainment, logistics, and maintenance processes and tools for the SBIRS four major mission areas to ensure all space and ground-based SBIRS assets continue providing critical data instrumental in defending the nation against continuously evolving ballistic missile threats. Millennium will also support the SBIRS Survivable Endurable Evolution (S2E2) project, which is a permanent sustainment modification to the current mobile ground systems (MGS) to enable processing of Defense Support Program (DSP) and Geosynchronous Orbit (GEO) satellites’ mission data and to perform limited contingency SBIRS GEO satellite commanding.
"We are privileged and honored to provide SMC with engineering, sustainment and logistics solutions using our in-depth understanding of SBIRS systems," said Millennium’s President and CEO, Patrick Murphy. "We are excited to grow our partnership with SMC and provide them with exceptional and imperative services."
The SBIRS space segment currently consists of a constellation of DSP, SBIRS GEO, and SBIRS Highly Elliptical Orbit (HEO) satellites used for data collection. The SBIRS ground segment includes a centralized Mission Control Station and associated backups with Relay Ground Stations (RGS) deployed worldwide and MGS composed of the Mobile Ground Terminal, Milstar Communication Vehicle and various support vehicles.
Millennium began work on the one-year base period of performance on March 1, 2017. There are four (4) one-year options and one (1) six-month option to extend.
