Candidate will work with MDA directorates (2 Ltrs), BMDS elements, warfighting community and MDIOC staff agencies to ensure all validated developer, planner, test, and operations threat modeling requirements are known and represented within MDA’s M&S and systems engineer’s specifications. Primary responsibility will include coordinating, interacting, fact finding, documenting, verifying and validating that the threat models used to support BMDS events accurately reflect the given specifications and that the models perform as expected based on assessed, observed or engineered behaviors. Candidate is required to test selected trajectory models, cases or scenarios against anchored specifications and determine model validly.

Candidate will attend a wide variety of technical interchanges, planning conferences, coordination meetings and in-progress reviews to provide V&V SME support. The incumbent may be required to brief study or analyze results during technical interchanges, review and comment on or author V&V reports. The V&V Engineer must have a strong background in missile system engineering performance; understand engineering modeling principals behind IR and radar signature data, body motion, trajectory generation, counter measures, and debris. Candidate must understand basic space and missile system characteristics, motion, body rates, staging, object deployment, Euler angles, quaternion, digital terrain data and M&S principles.

Requirements:

  • Must possess exceptional interpersonal skills required to relate to a wide variety of customers, technical and none technical SME’s and organizational levels.
  • Candidate should be familiar with the mission of the MDA and TMC.
  • Candidate must be able to communicate (oral and written) complex requirements data in a clear concise manner.
  • Candidate must be comfortable briefing a variety of technical and non technical groups.
  • Strong attention to detail is a must.
  • The V&V Engineer is required to report to the government and organizational manager in a timely manner any significant V&V issues that could affect the planning or execution of any BMDS events requiring threat data.
  • At least 8 years experience in a relevant or related field is required.
  • A strong knowledge of the flight characteristics, motion, and performance parameters necessary to model ballistic missiles is required.
  • Knowledge of M&S principles and previous V&V experience is highly desired.
  • The candidate must be a “self starter”, able to work without supervision.
  • Travel is required.
