Senior Electrical Engineer
Job Description:
Provide systems support in the development of the design for the Dual Electron Spectrometer (DES) component of the Fast Plasma Investigation (FPI) for the Magnetospheric Multiscale (MMS) mission. Currently the mission is in Phase A and the support required will be needed throughout instrument design, development and test. The work will concentrate on the testing and evaluation of the prototype design including the analysis needed to complete the trade studies for the development of the next revision of the prototype anode and control and data handling (C&DH) boards. Support is also required after the boards are integrated into instrument level tests to answer questions and provide anomaly resolution assistance. Review and update interface control documents as needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years experience
- Knowledge/experience of both detailed analog and digital design
- Knowledge of the design process and ability to design from component level to system level
- Knowledge of subsystem development and testing. Review these activities throughout the instrument development.
- Define systems and conduct trade studies as required for the DES Instrument development
- Experience in the life cycle of a project from concept to delivery.
- Experience in instrument verification and validation.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills
- Work directly with a group of engineers and scientists in the development of flight instruments.
Education:
BS in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college
