Sensor Technologies and Power Systems
Millennium has completed Phase I of the development of a Remote Explosive Analysis and Detection System (READS) camera, including concept design development, engineering development, and systems integration, testing, and evaluation of a multi-spectral sensor to detect anomalous (and potentially lethal) objects on humans or in other mediums (buried, vehicle, etc.). The system uses passive imaging sensors to detect thermal anomalies that may indicate hidden weapons and/or explosives and alerts the operator to the location and approximate shape/size of potential hidden objects. Millennium was selected for this program based on its rich heritage in sensor development, test innovation, and more recently the development of a multi-band imaging camera for broad area surface emissivity measurements (eCAM). Success of the READS camera will lead to future models designed for more involved searches of IEDs and the eventual development of a fieldable capability to assist the war fighter. The system can accommodate emerging technologies such as terahertz, subsurface interrogation capabilities to expand the current capability over time.
Millenniums’ personnel have also worked with IR Sensor Modeling, Development, Testing and Discrimination Algorithms which are used in today’s Exo-Atmospheric Missile Defense Systems.
